A grant received by the Law and Public Safety Academy at the Cabell County Career Technology Center is helping to fund Skills USA competition taking place today at the school.

The $11,724 modernization grant, received from the West Virginia Department of Education, was written by students in the program as part of their Simulated Workplace initiative.

The grant helped the school purchase five photography kits being used in crime scene investigation scenarios.

Skills USA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry representatives, all working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. They provide educational programs, events and competitions that support career and technical education (CTE) in the nation’s classrooms.

Skills USA Competition will continue this afternoon (Friday, March 17) at the Cabell County Career Technology Center from 12:15 to 2:30 PM.  Students in all programs are competing with their peers to reinforce learning while having a little fun in the process.
