Students in the Welding concentration will build a knowledge base and technical skills for all aspects of the Welding industry.  The goal of this program is to prepare students for entry-level skills in the following welding processes:Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
  • Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW)
  • Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW)
  • Gas Metal Arc Welding (MIG)
Students are also taught:
  • Shop and Personal Safety
  • Blueprint Reading
  • Oxy-Fuel Cutting
  • Brazing
  • Plasma Arc Cutting of mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum
Students will have the opportunity to earn both NCCERcertification and the WV Welding Certification for each skill setmastered and be exposed to skills that develop positive work ethics. This program is certified by the American Welding Society.  If space isavailable, adult students are permitted into the day-time program, buthigh-school students have first option.  Adult applicants must meetspecific admission criteria and are responsible for Application andRegistration fees (see Admissions). Adult students must register through the Robert C. Course Length and Meeting Times:
  • Day-time Program: 5 days per week, 2 years, 1080 hours
  • First-year students:  morning class
  • Second-year students: afternoon class
  • Adult Evening Program: Monday - Wednesday, 5pm - 10pm, 2 years, 1080 hours
